First Time at the “Taste of Pennsylvania” Wine Show
On Saturday, several of the women in my family and I went to the Taste of Pennsylvania Wine show at the York County Fair Grounds.
The event was scheduled from 1-6 pm, and you could attend either Saturday or Sunday. We voted for Sunday even with the threat of rain.
For the price of the ticket, you had full access to wine tastings from many wineries from all over Pennsylvania, food booths like dips and sauces, and food trucks. For an additional cost, you could taste 30 craft beers. We opted to do just the wine portion, which was more than enough.
After about 45 minutes, the nasty storm we had been expecting moved in. It was pretty sad, the tents and booths were doing everything they could to save their stands. Many of the tents were attempting to fly away and several broke. At this point, we ran to the grandstand to relax out of the rain. My cousin, the only of us with an umbrella, braved the rain to bring us gourmet grilled cheese from the Mad Dash Grilled Cheese food truck. I opted for their original grilled cheese and it was super yummy.
It took about an hour, but the rain past and many of the booths reopened for tastings. We continued our walk around, finished our wine tastings, and got some snacks along the way. Just as we were leaving, the music was set up for the rest of the event.
Overall, it was a great event. It’s a great possibility that we’ll all be returning next spring for the next event. This was my first year, but my family had gone in the past. They were discussing how large the event is becoming, especially newly including the food trucks.
